Automatic Position Reporting System
APRS©
APRS© is a real-time tactical digital communicatons protocol for exchanging information between a large number of stations covering a large (local) area. As a multi-user data network, it is quite different from conventional packet radio.
In the 12 years of it's existence it has come to encompass all aspects of amateur radio.
APRS© was developed by Bob Bruninga, WB4APR.
Rather than try to replicate information that is already available from many excellent web sites, better we just point you in the right direction.
K3ARS has an APRS station active 24/7 at the Emergency Management Office in Chestertown, MD. Click here to see the current status of our station.
